About UP Education Network
UP Education Network partners with school districts to dramatically improve student outcomes in chronically underperforming schools. Our mission is to create exceptional schools for students who are systemically furthest from opportunity. Our partnership model places UP coaches and leaders directly alongside school and district teams — in the building, in classrooms, in coaching meetings — building the conditions for excellence that last long after the partnership ends.
The Opportunity
UP Education Network is partnering with Lynn Public Schools to support the transformation of a school committed to dramatically improving outcomes for its students. This partnership is grounded in a clear improvement plan aligned to the school’s priority areas, and is designed to build durable instructional leadership capacity within the school.
The School Partnership Coach will serve as one of the primary points of contact for the partnership. This is a high-leverage, high-visibility role for someone who thrives working directly with school leaders, is skilled at translating plans into action, and is energized by the complexity of real school improvement work. The role sits at the intersection of instructional coaching, project management, and relationship-building — and requires the credibility, judgment, and drive to lead all three simultaneously.
Specific Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership Development
- Provide targeted professional development and coaching to the school’s math and science department heads, aligned to the school’s priority areas and improvement plan
- Lead or participate in meetings for the school team in alignment with the plan and in direct response to data
- Collaborate with the broader UP network team and other partnership coaches to ensure alignment toward shared goals — including a weekly UP team meeting and ad hoc coordination as needed
Client Relationship and Partnership Growth
- Ensure high levels of client and partner satisfaction by building strong working relationships with school and district stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to deepen or expand UP’s work with Lynn Public Schools where needs and interests align
- Ideal candidates also have a strong network within K-12 schools in Massachusetts and are able to assist the CEO in business development and cultivation of future contracts (this ability would increase the FTE closer to 40%)
Qualifications
- Significant experience in K–12 instructional leadership, school improvement, or education consulting — with a track record of improving outcomes in urban schools
- Deep knowledge of instructional coaching practice and the structures that drive adult development in schools (e.g., data meetings, planning routines, observation and feedback cycles)
- Experience working with math or science administrators and teachers, or demonstrated ability to quickly develop content-area coaching credibility
- Strong project management skills; able to hold a complex, multi-stakeholder work plan and keep a team moving toward goals
- Skilled relationship-builder who can work effectively with principals, district leaders, and partner organizations
- Comfortable operating with autonomy and judgment in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
- Clear and compelling communicator, both in meetings and in writing
- Genuine belief in the capacity of schools serving underserved students to become exceptional, and in the importance of that work
- Strong alignment with UP Education Network’s core values: Teamwork, Integrity, Growth, Engagement, and Resilience
- Ideal candidates have experience in business development and have strong relationships throughout the K-12 space in Massachusetts (this increases the FTE closer to 50%)
- Current authorization to work in the United States — a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of engagement
Compensation
This role is available as either a contracted engagement or an approximately 25%–40% FTE position, depending on candidate preference and fit. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and scope. Strong performance may lead to expanded engagement with this and other UP partnerships.
